My weight is definitely affecting my health. I have back problems because of it and it's hard walking up stairs and taking long walks. I know I need to focus on balancing working and being healthy. But my health will come first. I will make a conscious effort to be healthy.
In this episode I briefly talked about the pain of losing my children. Being around Tori, Dean, and the kids has helped to ease the pain. I came to work one month after Ed died. Tori and Dean were very mindful of my feelings and my hurt and they took really good care of me. I took care of Stella and they took care of me.

I've never heard of this before. I'll definately need to check this out.

Hey, found your site by accident doing a search on Bing but I'll definitely be returning. As for your post... I more or less agree with a lot of what you're talking about here but wouldn't it be just as easy to figure out another way to go about it? I mean why screw with your quality of life if you don't have to?
Is there any facility care in the health reform that probably will go nowhere now?
is really inspiring to us
great topic, thanks for sharing this
If excess weight reduction were as simple as calories in versus. calories out, then how come many heavy men and women consume much less but STILL are unable to reduce an ounce?
I do not post very many comments because I do not type well but this was very useful thank you!
Thanks for posting this. Would be intrested to read more or possibly please contact me by email thank you!

I found a web site is Thailand that sells those fish oil capsules that take care of the fatty acids. I am not sure that they are healthy to eat but I am tempted by the cost. Any suggestion how to have better control over the quality of my diet supplements?
I am a retired firefighter. Lately I am feeling degregationproblems with my memory and I am concerned about it. I was considering memory practice, or omega3 fish oil capsuls. What is the best bet?

My it staff forces us to use firewall software. The thing is that my yahoo messanger software does not perform correctly with it. How can I bypass the firewall to be able to chat with my friends?

I discovered I could reduce a great deal more weight by eating less food but more frequently. I lost fat quite easy doing it this way.
Hello, I found your blog in a new directory of blogs. I dont know how your blog came up. Your blog looks good. Have a nice day.
Patsy, I sure hope you did not have that surgery. The recent post by Bev on June 20th is right on target. Buy the Southbeach diet book and just eat all the foods that are good for you, as much as you want.
Hi Patsy, I am also very short 4'8. I have been through the mill with my back. At first when I gained a bunch of weight I became stupid. I delevoped Bulemia for a few years people told me I looked like death. I ignored them until my Dad ( God Rest his soul)came to my house opened the refrigerator and saw nothing at that time I went from Bulimia to Anorexia. He told me loudly that if I didn't go to the Doctor the next day and tell the truth that he and my dear mother also in heaven. That they would put me in a hospital for eating disorders. I went to the doctor gained weight and I am overweight and unhealthy. I have started to eat salads, Chinese vegetables, rice and beans. The weight comes off much easier if it is done by healthy eating not surgery.Drink alot of water and juice, yogurt, make sure you cover the vitamins in your diet. Do not add salt to food ever nor purchase anything with a high sodium or saturated fat in it. After a week you won't be able to eat alot just what your body requires, vitamins by food. The darker green lettuce, Broccali any greens must be dark green for good vitamin intake. Snack on carrots , celery, granola Bas ect.. God Bless You, Bev
Patsy, I just want to say your are awesome.
Best Wishes Miss Patsy! Hope your health improves and that you are able to loose the weight that you want to loose. May God bless you!
You are such a great role model for Tori, and your great with Stella. She loves you to death. Keep up the fantastic work!
Patsy, you do need to stay healthy..... we need to see you on the Tori & Dean show and if your sick we won't be able to see you anymore!!!! I wish I had enough money to hire you to take care of my little baby girl... Love you and take care of yourself ok!!!
Patsy you are such a wonderful person. I can see that Tori and Dean really care about you and love you. You are like family to them and it seems like they will do whatever they can to get you in a healthy state. Keep strong and take care!
I LOVE YOU PATSY!!!
Lisa - You can't expect that this would be taken seriously. You should signup with a reputable childcare service. Tori and Dean are NOT going to take some random person from the Internet into their home to watch their children. Are you nuts?
Dear Patsy,
Oh, yes, you are a blessing to the McDermott family. You are an angel, truly, and I do hope very much that you get well. If you do have the surgery, I'll pray for your safety and well being, because not only do Tori and Dean need you, but little Stella and Liam, who are practically your grandkids, need you too... and so many other people, the viewers, we are all concerned about you... May you and your family be in Gods sight, and your children, too...

Patsy,
Eight years ago, almost to the day, I entered the hospital to have gastric bypass surgery. Today, having lost 140 pounds, I don't regret having the surgery, even though there have been life long changes to my eating habits and to my body. For me, it was the right decision, but please make the decision with your eyes wide open. Yes, you can die on the table. It happens. When I made my decision, my daughter was only six and I was scared that if I died, she'd grow up thinking I died because of vanity. Vanity had nothing to do with my decision. Like you, I had health problems. I teach and stand on my feet all day. Carrying 140 extra pounds on my 5'3" frame made each step excruciating. My blood pressure was going up, and I had sleep apnea, just to name a few issues. However, after weighing my options
(I had yoyo'ed for most of my life), I decided that my chances of dying from weight related health issues were just as great as my chances of dying on the table. (I'm a high school math teacher, so everything is number related to me!)
Anyway, I did it, survived, and have maintained my weight. Food is no longer my friend, although there are times I revert to that mentality.
Make your decision for you and for you only. Family support and love is critical, especially in the first few months. Know that nothing in your body will ever be the same. Medicines don't absorb the same, food you loved you may now hate, sugar may make you want to throw up (as well as grease), and more. And, what lasting effects I have may not be the ones you have. As I said, go into this with your eyes open. There's so much more I could tell you, b/c basically what could go wrong, did for me. I still say it was the right decision and I'd go through it all again. My only problem is that as a teacher (my husband is a policeman), there's no way I'll ever be able to have the tummy tuck and other nips and tucks I need to have. Even so, I can fit into clothes, plane seats, and simply move with ease.
I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide. My thoughts are with you.
Dear Patsy,
My husband is a very special Chiropractor...I know...he's my husband...but he is exceptional. He was also trained as a medical doctor and has treated many people with not only back problems, but medical issues of virtually every type! He's helped those with weight & back/musculo-skeletal for over 25 years. He even has helped my mom!! that says ALOT!!! You need all the energy you can get to keep up with the family!! Please email him at bruce.holmes@att.net or call at 818-919-9001! Bless you..LeeAnn
Good Luck with your health, and hope that you get healthy so that you can be there for Tori, Dean, Stella, and Liam. Donna
Patsy, I email Tori about me helping you out with the kids. I never had children due to medical problems. I always wanted kids. My husband has two from his first wife. When I come along he did not want any more, I was to young to understand that one day I would want kids. I feel since I could not have my own children I could help others out with theirs.
Lisa
Dear pasty, i think you are the greatest role model for Tori and Dean's family!!They are so lucky to have have you there with them.I hope that you get better so you will be able to see Liam and Stella grow up!! Good luck and God you and the McDermott family!!
Dear Mrs. Patsy, I absolutly love you. I think you are a great influence in Tori and Dean's life. I know you are in mine. I love seeing you on the show week after week. I am 4'10 " tall and was hitting the 250 mark when i cried out to God and with His help I lost 86 lbs. I wss 9 lbs. from my goal to go in and get a tummy tuck and lipo when my meds we're changes and I gained back 20 lbs. but i know that if God did it once, he'll do it again. You keep your eyes on Him and know you are never alone. Know you are in my prayers for your loss of loved ones and for the weight loss that is coming your way. I lost my weight by prayer, taking CLA which is a natural(herb) fat burner and Slim Quik. I stopped cold turkey from eating bread, gravy, sauces and fried food to eating brocoli, caukiflower, mushrooms, onions all sauteed in crushed garlic and olive oil and broiling my fish and chicken breast seasoned in different seasons also lots of salads with fresh vegtables. You can do it. I believe in you. Look at all of the support you have, Tori, Dean, Stella, Liam and your many "fans." You are beautiful inside and out.
Denise
Patsy~
I just had Lapband surgery on 6-4-09 and already feel a million times better! I have started week 2 and continue to add new foods. I feel fuller faster and it's very important to walk....walk...walk! I have lost 12 pounds but it's due to a liquid diet two days prior to the procedure and after........I cannot wait to see how this all turns out for me and you! Just to give you hope, one of my friends lost 100 pounds in a year and the other is close to 70. You must be disciplined and willing to make the changes in your eating habits, which includes giving up many of your favorite foods...at first! Good Luck!!!
omg
i love u patsy ur awesome
please do get healthy ur one of my favorite peoples on the show
keep doing what u do best
Hi Patsy, I am sorry to hear about your loss. I love to watch you on the T&D show. You are a beautiful person just the way you are and if getting surgery will help you in the long run then heres to you babe! Best of Luck and God Bless. BIG XO love, Di
Hello Patsy I just wanted to say I had the lap-Band done March 30. So far so good and I am hoping that you have good results if that is what you want to do. I think you should start a support page because I found that the support really helps.
Good Luck,
Kiersten
Dear Patsy- how are you able to go on after losing your children? God's will or not, the loss to a mother is tremendous. how do you function in such an over kill society, while trying to cope with the strains of a poor homeland? you are one awesome woman. the dean's are lucky. do they understand your physical and emotional pain? i hope so...
Dear Patsy, Everyone needs a Patsy in thier lives. Did you get the stomach band?? How did it go and did you lose any weight. I have seriously been thinking of getting it and even cancelled a doctor's appointment to talk about it. Can you give me any tibits about it and did you like it?? Please let me know. Give Tori and Dean a Hi for me. Love the show.
Cheryl
Patsy,
I was sadden to hear about your losses. I'm glad you have Tori and Dean the kids in your life. You seem like a great lady.
Your health issues, we all really don't know, but I would like to suggest I know it sound corney, but Jenny Craig really works, and the food is not bad, my sister lost 65 lbs in 1 1/2 yrs and has kept it off for 5 yrs know. Surgey is risky, sometimes at a certain age, it can be. Not that your old . But there are other ways that don't risk your life. Try Jenny Craig what do you have to lose? Not the other one Nutra-System my sister says yuck..
Good luck, hope your on the show and in their lives and ours for along time to come.
God Bless
Patsy, I just watched the most recent episode (I'm a mom of twin 2 yr olds, so I can only catch up on the shows via DVR). Anyway, I just wanted to share with you my weight loss story. After one of my daughters had heart surgery to repair a PDA when she was 11 mos, I decided I needed to do everything I could to be around as long as possible. I've struggled with my weight my entire life (I'll be 38 in July)! So, on June 25, 2008 I had Gastric Bypass surgery, and other than getting married and having my twins, it was the best decision I ever made. Know it is a VERY personal decision, and one that should be thoroughly researched, but I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. I would recommend you find a surgeon that offers an interdisciplinary approach--surgery, dietician, psychotherapy, similar to my program at Duke. Not only is there important steps to be taken beforehand, but they provide long term follow up, as well as group therapy sessions, that I personally find one of the most important aspects. And I would encourage Tori and Dean to go with you, as they would be able to talk with others too. At 11 months out, I've lost 134 lbs (almost 1/2 of my total body weight), have a healthy BMI (which was my goal) and I can run and jump with the girls all the time! I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide!!
Patsy, I think you are a Beautiful soul. I lost my 25 yr old son a 1 1/2 yr ago and I know that pain. I'm glad that you have the little ones to keep you busy. You are doing a wonderful job from what I see. I'm still going through this greiving process so I don't know what to offer you. All I can say is I know that pain and feel that void and it's a struggle everyday. You are an inspiration to me and I pray for your health and your losses too. Take care and God Bless.
Patsy, it was very nice meeting you at Stella's bday party on Saturday. You are a sweetheart and I wish only the best of life for you in everything you do! Tori & family are very lucky to have you and I am sure you feel lucky having them in your life also.

I absolutely LOVE you. You have been the mother that Tori needs. And you take such wonderful care of her children.
I am so sorry for the loss of your children, I don't know how I would have handled that. My kids are my world. Which I why I recently had Gastric Bypass surgery (June 2). I want to be healthy for my family. And I know that you want to be healthy for Tori and her family. If surgery is the route that you chose, I know that you will do well with it. You deserve to do something just for you and your health. You have made a great start.
Take care and good luck. I look forward to seeing your decision on the show!!
God Bless you!

Hi Patsy,
My name is Janice Grimes and I am a registered nurse who works for a plastic surgeon (Dr. Al Aly) in Iowa. He a world renowned expert on body contouring after massive weight loss. When you reach your goal weight and have all the extra skin you and Tori were talking about, you should see an expert in body contoruing. Dr. Aly wrote the only textbook on body contouring and travels the world to teach other surgeons his technique. Even though he practices in Iowa, he does have a California license and occasionally performs surgery in Beverly Hills. PLEASE be sure you see a board certified surgeon. Dr. 90210 may be famous, but he is not board certified. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me at janiceg@icplasticsurgery.com. You can also visit our website www.icplasticsurgery.com and get information about body contouring. I wish you all the best! Janice Grimes RN, BSN
Patsy, I love your calm sweet energy. Yes, please take care of yourself....so very sorry for all of your losses. I don't even know how you get up everyday, except for having the purpose of caring for Tori, Dean and the kids. They have become your family. Clearly, they love you. I love to see you on the show. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I also, have a great deal of weight to lose-I eat my sadness also. God bless you and empower you....you go girl!!!! Blessings!
Dearest Patsy, God Bless you! I will keep you in my prayers. Take good care of yourself and if there is anything I can do to help you just ask. I truly live to help others....
Much, much Love...
Charla
Dear Patsy, keep the faith, and please take care of yourself. we love you guys.
Patsy,
What a strong woman you are! I hope that your time with Tori & Dean & the cute kids will continue to ease the pain about the loss of your children. You are there for a reason, all of you are helping each other.
All the best,
-M
Sweet Patsy,
You are truly a heaven sent angel to this beautiful family. I believe you have been sent to Tori, Dean, Liam and Stella for them to live by example. My heart breaks for Tori when she feels she has to respond to her "biological" mothers' hateful comments and attitudes. God bless you for being the true mother figure Tori needs. Liam and Stella could not have a better grandmother than you. Dean seems like a very nice young man, and cares for his family very much. He is still hurting from losses in his family, too and your mere presence and grace sees all of these kids through the tough times.
Your childrens' spirits are all still here, and that is evident in the people that you touch in your life. I am so sorry for your loss, but you and Hum can be proud of the job you both have done in raising your beautiful children to be thoughtful and soulful children. I have never watched a "reality" show before, but look forward to seeing you and your family weekly. My prayers are with you all, and please take good care of yourself and we all pray you may find an answer to the health issues you are facing. God is with us all, and to look at your beautiful spirit is a living testiment of that!
Patsy, over the last year I have had many struggles. I have read several books that have helped me to get thru each and every day. I start my day with an affirmation, I look in the mirror and say "I like who I am and I am responsible for all my choices. I choose to be loving, caring, giving, receiving and will find abundance each all aspects of my life." This has had nothing but positive effects on me. I no longer worry as I have handed that over to a higher being and I have in fact been able to lose weight. Foods I ate in the past no longer have an effect on me - candy, soda, sweets, etc. and even the portions have changed. My gift to you is that you find the peace and happiness inside of you and it will flow outwards in ways that you never imagined.
Patsy,
My heart just broke in two when I heard the unimaginable loss your're dealing with, I think it would have crushed alot of us, what you told Tori is true of you, "you are stronger than you think" I think your're proof of that.
I will keep you in my prayers.
Pauline
Brooklyn, NY
Patsy, I am so so sorry for the loss of your children. I am so happy to see you are with Tori And Dean . They seem to need you and you need them as well and that works out great. I feel for your chronic pain and happy you are taking care of the situation. I know I only watch the show and I feel that what I see is Tori really really cares about you as you do for the whole family. When I worked back home in Los Angeles at a bank where Tori use to come in she was just so nice to me. So being a total stranger I know she is a GEM as you are too. God Bless to you and the McDermotts
luv I miss Cali:)
Patsy,
I was SO sad to watch last night's episode. I'm sorry you're in pain (emotional and physical). But I'm also angry that everyone has immediately jumped on the "it's because of teh fatz" bandwagon.
There are a million reasons for back pain, having nothing to do with your weight. I hope that you have explored all your options, gotten everything checked out medically, and tried other remedies before deciding that your weight is the problem. I also hope you aren't/haven't done something drastic to lose the weight.
Patsy, I'm sure you know what a blessing you are to Dean & Tori and the kids. You are mother and grandmother to that family. I'm sorry for the loss of your bio children and totally understand about stress eating. The important thing is your health. I hope you get healthy to be around to see Stella & Liam get married!
Dear Patsy,
I am so sorry for the loss of your children. God Bless You and your family.
Good luck with your weight it's extremely hard to loose weight I have been trying for 2 years and it's a very slow process. Good luck and best wishes.
Patsy, you are such a sweetheart who only deserves the best! Keep your chin up and I'm sure everything will turn out fine! :)
Hi there Patsy. I would like to start by agreeing with all of these women in saying you are a beautiful human being, and those are rare. I also live with chronic pain and am over weight, I have 11 surgeries and was forced into early menapause, am only 30 yrs old.Menapause puts a total different strain on your body when it comes to losing weight...as does stress. I desperately want to lose weight for myself to be healthy and I want to look better for me. I have been making excuses for a long time, and just recently got tierd of myself. I began with yoga for plus size women ( which I teach), taking vitamins, detoxifying with an herbal supplement. Which in turn did change my hunger ( I have a huge sweet tooth:) I also began small walks...don't go for the long ones yet, I would watch "Tori and Dean" while doing some floor excersises, just basic leg lifts, crunches anything I could think of because when you build muscle, the muscle burns fat ALL DAY LONG. I won't write a book but basically I have hope now. Once I started seeing the scale go down and my clothes are bigger...it gives you this confidence that says... I can do this and I want to because you start to feel what it is like to feel better and look better. You have great poeple around you and you are a strong woman...you CAN do whatever you decide to do. Get your thoughts and your body healthy and all good things will follow. I believe this. I wish you love and happiness always.
Love and Light*****
God bless your heart.
Keep hanging on you
can make it throuh
thiss.
Patsy: Eventually, you will become the change you wish to see. It is such a pleasure watching this show and your interactions with Tori and Dean's children.
Patsy I just Love you, I lost my parents and feel very teary eyed when I see the Love you have for this family. I also have a handicapped son, so I kinda know the heartache. I just wanted to take the time to wish you good luck with your surgery, and I will be praying for you, I was so glad to see you back on the show. You add to it!!! God bless you Patsy best of luck, and remember the pain hurts alot in the begining but you forget how bad it hurts once you start to recover, just dont try to do too much to soon. Ive had 20 surgeries over the last 17 years and one isnt any easier than the others but you do get over the pain..
Keep smiling that beautiful smile of yours!
I was so anxious to leave you this message I initially posted it on wrong page. I hope the Guncles will forgive me.
I just want to encourage you to continue being real. It's so refreshing to find a real, Jamaican woman trying to be nothing but herself, especially among "foreigners". You make me feel proud to be a fellow sojourner in the diaspora. I have lived outside of Jamdown for over twenty years and found so many fakes among our people, that you are a breath of fresh air - real and intelligent with no false, forced accent in one direction nor another.
Continue to do your thing; you bring a good dose of reality and balance to Tori and Dean's otherwise crazy and hectic life.
I am married to an actor so I can relate to their lives on so many levels; my husband quit the Hollywood scene but I can still relate.
You also have my prayers on your weight loss journey. You are a blessing to each other.
Ooops. I was so anxious to leave you a message I initially placed this on the Guncle's page. I hope they will forgive me. Any, Patsy I want to encourage you to continue being real.

Hello Patsy!!! You are a special woman, and we are all very lucky to know you! I also am on a "new beginnings" program -- something I created for myself to be healthier! I wish you all the luck...you can do it!
patsy you are in my prayers and i can feel your pain with degenerative spine and disc diease. just keep your head up high and god bless you your a angel.
Hi Patsy,
God Bless you and everyone around you. I hope you achieve your goals. Maybe with the help with Tori and Dean you can bet this. How about the trend mill alittle a day and look online for healthy foods to help I wish you all the best. I'm so GLAD that Tori and Dean have you she loves you sooo much. MUCH MUCH LOVE FROM SHELLS FROM R.I.
Dear Patsy I want to commend you on wanting to lose weight for health issues. I have always been heavy. I recently had the lapband surgery and I have lost 70lbs and feel like I am 24 again. I am much healthier and will soon be able to stop taking my medications. Tori and Dean are very blessed to have you in there lives. Tori needs you now more than ever now that her father has passed. You are the only family that she knows other than friends.
I hope everything works out for you and I will keep you in my prayers. Good Luck on the weight loss.
Patsy I have the same problems with my back, my weight has caused a disk to slip in my upper back near my neck making even just sitting on the couch watching tv painful at times. It is so frustrating, I gained the weight from the birth of my first son and just can not lose it. You do have both a family with the McDermotts and an extended fan family rooting for you as well. Good luck to you with everything; God bless you and the McDermott family.
Dear Patsy, Please work on your health it is very important. The only thing I can say is you certainly are a wonderful addition to Tori and Dean's family. Where can I find a Patsy like you? You are the only mother that Tori needs. Sorry if I offended anyone, but patsy is a blessing to their little family!!!!!!!!
